Burning the midnight oil


Hard work and study by our employees’ children will provide much better opportunities than those their parents ever enjoyed. They will become doctors, advocates, politicians, some even engineers. At ROTEK we realise that the boundaries of the world are determined by the boundaries of knowledge and, that is why we provide manuals on career guidance, support packages for mathematics, and tuition in study methods for the children who are closest to us. Our support packages for the youth will help them to grow and become the workforce of the future – not only for Rotek, but for the nation.


Rotek is an independent company involved in heavy transport, the construction and maintenance of infrastructures and manufacture heavy machinery or engineering components, repairing on site, for the power-, paper-, pertrochemical-, steel and sugar industries. You will receive better support from our people because they receive better support from us.

4.4 Customers


The social responsibility of a business towards its customers is closely related to the business ethics and good customer care discussed in previous sections. The following are a few basic steps:


• Products and services are safe for human consumption and carry ample safety warnings if there are any risks attached to using them.


• The real product or service is the same as the advertisements or verbal guarantees regarding the product.


• Goods and services that benefit the community are supplied and not product such as drugs. • There is no exploitation of customer ignorance. • High intensity marketing techniques should not be used on people who don’t need and can’t afford such a product. Sales methods used by some Time-share selling companies serve as an example. Fortunately legislation now requires a cooling-off period after the customer has signed the contract. Within that period, a customer can withdraw from the contract without paying a penalty.


Benefits to a business


Good customer care is quickly recognised by customers and word of mouth is still one of the most powerful advertising methods.


Customer rights: • Right to safety (safe quality products) • Right to know (honest information) • Right to be heard (resolving complaints) • Right to choice (choose among competitors)
