Create opportunities for the toddler to talk: – Toy telephones are an excellent means of bringing spontaneous speech. – Don’t try and keep the toddlers quiet – encourage speech. – Mealtimes are especially suitable for general conversation. – Place a familiar object in a large paper bag. Let a child put his hand into the bag and describe to you what the object feels like. (He will not yet be able to tell you what it is.) Answers such as “nice” or “soſt” are quite adequate. Show the child the object that was in the bag and discuss it.
Sing songs together. Read stories to the toddlers and page through books together.
