Development of children’s art
Preparation Remember to keep in mind the age group you are working with. Is the activity suitable for that age? Are their enough objects for the activity? Will the activity be enjoyable and interesting? Are the ideas original? Is the activity well thought out?
Dress Are you suitably dressed to be able to assist with the activity? Consider shoes, clothes, etc. Jewellery could be a problem if you need to hold a child – your brooch hurts the child, necklaces may get caught in the child’s hair or buttons and could be a problem.
Fingernails must be neat, clean and short. Cutex must be neat. Do not smoke on the school premises. Personal hygiene is very important.
Written planning Written planning must be done according to Module 3 of Teory and Practical. Hand the written planning to the teacher before you present your lesson. Be open to suggestions.
Note
Te student must be punctual. Te activities must be presented under the guidance and supervision of the school’s staff. Te student must be told where they went wrong, why and how to rectify their mistakes. Te staff of the school are there as the student’s example. Students may not be given permission to leave the centre during the hours allocated for the centre.
Students must observe, help, participate. Te student’s attitude contributes towards the mark allocation.
Te student is responsible for finding out what time tea-break is, can he/she contribute towards the tea-fund and what other general rules must be followed.
2.2.7 Evaluation of the lesson
Introduction: Was the introduction correct? well chosen? appropriate? well executed?
Presentation: Was the presentation well chosen? appropriate? well executed?
Teaching aids: Were they durable? enough for the group? well thought out?
Conclusion: Was it correctly executed? did it achieve its aim?
